Standards
Editorial Policy
A guide is only useful if you can trust it. This is the standard we hold our writing to, and how you can hold us to it.

Principles
- Useful on its own. Every guide should leave a reader better informed whether or not they ever use our service.
- Sourced. Factual claims rest on primary sources such as legislation, regulators and official documents. Each guide lists them at the end and we check every link before publishing.
- Honest about limits. We say what a guide cannot tell you, and we never present general information as legal advice.
- No invention. We do not publish made-up case studies, testimonials, statistics, prices, valuations or reviewers.
- Independent. Buyers do not review, approve or pay for our guides. See How We Make Money.
How a guide is made
- We choose topics from the questions businesses actually have when they first consider this market.
- We research from primary sources and note the date we checked them.
- We write in plain English and mark anything uncertain as uncertain.
- Where a guide touches legal or data protection points, we aim to have it reviewed by a suitably qualified professional. A guide only names a reviewer once a real person has actually reviewed it, with the date. Until then it is credited to our editorial team and carries no reviewer line.
- We publish the date and update it only when the content genuinely changes.
Keeping guides current
Data protection law, regulator guidance and buyers' programmes change. We review guides periodically and when we learn of a relevant change. If something has moved, we update the guide and its date. Where guidance is under review by the regulator, we say so and point readers to the live source.
Corrections
If you think something is wrong, out of date or unclear, tell us at [contact email]. We will check it against the source, correct genuine errors promptly and note significant corrections on the guide.
What we will not publish
- Claims that every business's data has a buyer, or promises about what you could be paid.
- Content that exists only to rank for a search term and does not help a reader.
- Pages copied from, or near-duplicates of, other sites we operate or anyone else's.
- Anything that implies we are the agent, partner or representative of any buyer.
